EyeAntiques displays Antiques items from out ophthalmic past : antique eye glasses, spectacles, ophthalmoscopes, microscopes and eye exam items. During the last thirty years, I have built up a successful business in Ross on Wye, Herefordshire, trading from an Elizabethan timber framed house bult in 1610. The shop is open on 3 floors and amongst the heavy oak timbers, you will find a wealth of furniture, pictures and small decorative items, with plenty of the unusual and hard to find items. I have handled furniture from the C16th through to Victorian and have experience of all furniture types, country and formal, and enjoy the language of oak better than all. Sharing it with new customers is always a delight. It was in 1977 that I purchased my premises, originally living about the shop. In 1982 I began an extensive restoration of the property, returning the front as near as possible to how it may have looked back in the 1600's. This was completed in time for its 400th anniversary.
I have been buying and selling antiques in Ross-on-Wye since 1976 and have seen many changes throughout the last thirty years, through the booming trading years of the 80's and 90's into the more selective and specialized trading of the 21st century. At Robin Lloyd Antiques I can offer helpful advice in avoiding the traumas and dangers of buying antiques, making sure of their originality and correct value. Over the last fiver years we have sold over 100 longcase clocks, all restored and returned to working order. Now in 2007 we have a smaller but swiftly moving stock and operate an effective Search and Locate service for both existing and new customers. It is of course no longer practical or very different.
