Niagara-on-the-Lake is a small historical town on the Niagara River at Lake Ontario. Once the main British stronghold on what became the Canadian side of the river, it has now become a worldwide tourist destination in the heart of Ontario's famous wine country. The beach at Port Dover while not large, has hosted countless of sun-seekers since the 1800s. This scene is a fantasy of what it may have felt like early on I borrowed the house in the background from it's actual location in town. Autumn in Ontario is a time of Indian Summer days cool nights, and a profusion of red, orange and yellow coloured trees. Toward the end of this magical season, the days become noticeably shorter, cooler and the landscape takes on a more somber greyish appearance. This is also the time for hunters, their dogs and the solitude of nature. Port Dover is a small fishing town on the north shore of lake Erie. Once home to the largest fresh water fishing fleet it has now become a summer tourist destination for those in the Southern Ontario region. Places like Knechtel Foods by the beach still offer famous Lake Erie Perch and the Arbor's Hotdogs and Golden Glow are an early spring must-have. A walk on the pier is still a summer evening's right of passage. Port Dover is also famous for "Motorcycle Madness" which bringsthousands of bikers each Friday the 13th. to this memorial gatherings.
