Each of us brings a personal filter to our view of the world. While others may enjoy the distant beauty of a mountain range, my eye is drawn to the small, intimate details of nature. It is the insects, birds, flowers, stones, and fallen feathers along the way that attract me. Painting allows me to reveal the beauty I discover in overlooked, unobtrusive bits of nature. My most recent body of work expresses the heart of my art ? a love of drawing, design, color and nature, with just a touch of whimsy. This work is in large part a tribute to my scientist father, who introduced me at a very young age to the endless wonders of natural history. While rambling together on wonderful nature walks, he would identify the birds and plants, and I would show him where to find hidden fairy gardens. We delighted in seeing into each other?s worlds, and both views continue to intrigue me. I majored in biology in college, but soon realized that art was essential to me, and that it would be my path and lifelong pursuit. Art has been important to me for as long as I can remember. The inner world of dreams, imagination and creativity were my blissful refuge, helping me through the challenges of childhood. I drew pictures of objects to illustrate the alphabet as I learned it, and at age 8, I filled a journal with intricate mandalas. Of course I had no idea there was a name for these detailed drawings ? I just loved making them. Many of my toys were little things I made of stones, clay, or paper. Creating them was much more fun and rewarding than playing with them afterwards. I have no idea how my family dealt with the never-ending accumulation of handmade gifts I constantly bestowed on them at each and every holiday! One summer in high school, I wandered into a San Francisco needlepoint store. The beautiful hand-painted canvases covering the walls amazed me. I was a total novice, without the slightest idea how to make a single needlepoint stitch. Original watercolor, pastel, mixed media paintings. Limited edition giclee fine art prints. Fine Art of Lucy Arnold Illustration and art for licensing. Unique handmade beaded jewelry. Fantasy miniature shoes of polymer clay. My abstract paintings come from an internal source of inspiration, and I allow intuition to guide me in their creation. I use colors to translate interactions and transformation of energies. Colors merge, flow gently from one to another ? or clash to create excitement and tension. Innumerable, partially transparent layers overlap to evoke a sense of depth and multidimensionality. I enjoy the ambiguity of seeing both micro and macrocosms in the same painting. I have a passion for color, which is a major, consistent component throughout my work. I find it thrilling to experience vivid color in nature, so I am especially attracted to the flora and fauna of the tropics. Skin diving is my favorite travel activity because it allows me to float through seemingly alien realms of incredible life forms. Nature provides such remarkable creations that I prefer depicting actual species of plants and animals, although they may seem imaginary through the lens of my interpretation.

This is an art site with pencil drawings done by Ake Johansson. Åke Johansson was born in Stockholm, Sweden, on February 22, 1959. Past away on January 24, 2011. He took part in an exhibition in Miami, Florida, USA. It ran between July 22 and August 4 2008. It was mostly artists from Latin America and other Spanish speaking countries that participated. He was a self-taught artist who had drawn pictures since he can remember. He had taken classes in oil-painting and had created a few water-colour pieces as well. He mainly did portraits in pencil and charcoal of celebrities from movies, as he was an admirer of the silver screen. He was just as fond of drawing portraits of people whether they´re celebrities or not. Ake was learning more about digital painting processes (photoshop, corel draw and other computer based programs) attempting to widen his horizon about different techniques and motives. Subjects in the galleries include celebrities, friends, and relatives. The work displayed spans over a period of three decades. Art By Ake Johnasson - This book contains my art work. It is mainly celebrity portraits, but also some pictures of friends and relatives of mine. I have drawn the most of them with pencil and charcoal on paper. All the colour images are made in the computer except a couple that are made with watercolor on paper. Born in 1959 in Stockholm, Sweden where I also live and work. Mostly self taught. Have taken classes in oil painting, ten lessons, each two hours long. Mostly works with pencil and paper though. I will try oil painting on paper, on specific paper for that. I have only tried on canvas before.

Please visit Sherrie's Art Glass for some unique art glass. In the small town of Raton, NM there was no stained glass shop or anyway to buy glass supplies. So I decided to create a small glass business. Already the interest has begun for stained glass and many inquiries have been made for classes. If you are interested in stained glass, or slumped glass, drop me an email and I will be glad to make a unique piece for you. If you live in our area, let me know if you are interested in a class. Animation is the rapid display of a sequence of images of 2-D or 3-D artwork or model positions in order to create an illusion of movement. It is an optical illusion of motion due to the phenomenon of persistence of vision, and can be created and demonstrated in a number of ways. Dr. Draw welcome you to Art and Animation for Print and Video. Caricatures for print or parties. Outstanding Illustrators dedicated to giving Art Directors and Designers brilliant results. An illustration is a displayed visualization form presented as a drawing, painting, photograph or other work of art that is created to elucidate or dictate sensual information (such as a story, poem or newspaper article) by providing a visual representation graphically. Today, there is a growing interest in collecting and admiring original artwork that was used as illustrations in books, magazines, posters, etc. Various museum exhibitions, magazines and art galleries have devoted space to the illustrators of the past. In the visual art world, illustrators have sometimes been considered less important in comparison with fine artists and graphic designers. But as the result of computer game and comic industry growth, illustrations are becoming valued as popular and profitable art works that can acquire a wider market than the other two, especially in Korea, Japan, Hong Kong and USA. Original illustration art from the best-known magazine illustrators is known to bring prices into the hundreds of thousands of US Dollars at auction. Norman Rockwell's work transcends even these high standards, with his painting "Breaking Home Ties" selling in a 2006 Sotheby's auction for USD15.4 million. The best-known pinup artists such as Gil Elvgren and Alberto Vargas also bring tremendous prices at auction, with a number of Elvgren's works having sold for over USD100,000 in Heritage Auctions.
Diego Rivera was born in Guanajuato City, Guanajuato, to a well-off family. Rivera claimed to be descended, on his mother's side, from Jews who converted to Roman Catholicism, and, on his father's side, from Spanish nobility. Since he was ten years of age, Rivera studied art at the Academy of San Carlos in Mexico City. He was sponsored to continue study in Europe by Teodoro A. Dehesa Mendez, the governor of the State of Veracruz. After arrival in Europe in 1907, Rivera initially went to study with Eduardo Chicharro in Madrid, Spain, and from there went to Paris, France, to live and work with the great gathering of artists in Montparnasse, especially at La Ruche, where his friend Amedeo Modigliani painted his portrait in 1914. His circle of close friends, which included Ilya Ehrenburg, Chaim Soutine, Modigliani's wife Jeanne Hebuterne, Max Jacob, gallery owner Leopold Zborowski, and Moise Kisling, was captured for posterity by Marie Vorobieff-Stebelska (Marevna) in her painting "Homage to Friends from Montparnasse" What A Crazy Man (1962). In those years, Paris was witnessing the beginning of cubism in paintings by such eminent painters as Pablo Picasso and Georges Braque. From 1913 to 1917, Rivera enthusiastically embraced this new school of art. Around 1917, inspired by Paul Cezanne's paintings, Rivera shifted toward Post-Impressionism with simple forms and large patches of vivid colors. His paintings began to attract attention, and he was able to display them at several exhibitions. The George Wesley Bellows paintings on this page are available from 1st-Art-Gallery as handmade reproductions on canvas.
