Hello and welcome to our farm! Home to the Boer goat. Keen Acres Farm Show, breeding and 4-H projects. Our farm is located in Grantsville (Calhoun County), Central, West Virginia. We breed full blooded and percentage Boer goats. Our animals are raised on an up-most quality of special blended grain mix and high grade hay. To ensure a successful health rate (in our herd) all year round, we stay up to date on all the latest technology, vaccinations and preventive treatments available. We live in hilly premises, which benefit our animals with exercise, enhancing their physics, strength, and healthy muscular tone. Even with our lowest percentage goats (bucks specially); we?ve experienced excellent growth sprouts, stoutness and body weight of up to 27-30 lbs within the first 3-4 weeks of birth. We monitor our breed closely, with vast consideration and respect for the animal's well being, the quality of product and the integrity of our name.
We have wilderness and artic wildlife expeditions in Nunavut. Our unique Arctic & sub-Arctic wildlife photography expeditions are designed to offer quality photo opportunities while encountering animals in their natural habitat. We oversee these activities to see that they are accompished in a non-harassing and highly ethical manner. If you would like to learn more about our field ethics - click here. First rate mobile tent camps, good quality power boats and occassional on-site aircraft support allow flexibility to move where the animals are! Our work begins prior to each trip, when we spend many hours flying aerial reconnaissance, consulting with aboriginal elders, and initiating overland explorations to find the best den sites, active wildlife grazing ranges and water crossings. These unique adventures begin when our clients make thier own way one of the northern community access points, and board a floatplane or boat charter to the camp. These northern access communities will vary from season to season depending on the specific trip and wildlife locations at any given time period. On the first day of each expedition departure, participants board a charter boat or aircraft for distances ranging sometimes as far as 150-250 miles, to a pre-designated wildlife camp site on the remote mainland tundra regions of Northern Canada. Once there, comfortable tent accommodations, hot meals & await you! any of our wildlife trips offer aircraft support to conduct aerial reconnaissance, or should a medical emergency arise. If the animals should move or thin out too much, we can often move with them! After all, the camps are mobile and depending on the site, we have quality watercraft and occassionally aircraft on location.
Cave Biology BIOSPELEOLOGY is the branch of science that deals with the study of cave organisms or the organisms of subterranean ecosystem. A true cave offers a distinct ecological niche as well as a cueless ecosystem. The Cavernicoles (organism lives inside it) provide direct evidence of evolutionary changes. Therefore, it is interesting to know their physiological, ethological genetical changes. Study started on this area in the 17th century. True caves are not found everywhere and are inaccessible and dark, further these are dangerous, because they have the property to cave in without any preindications. The cavernicoles have to continue their phylogenetic race in prepetual dark, constant envioronmental conditions, no green edible stuff, under sporadic supply of food etc. Due to these facts cavernicoles usually lost their sensory adaptations, shows behavioural/physiological divergence, low metabolic rates, and mainly complete lack of timing sense. The comparative study of any cavernicole with its nearest epigean ancestor gives very interesting and fruitful result. Learn about Biospeleology or Cave Biology and know the inherent beauty of the subterranean cave ecosystem and its scientific importance in a better way. View the caves of all around the world, know about their locations. Participate in cave discussions, read n' add the abstracts of your original research work, get the information about the seminars & conferences as well as relevant vacant positions available around the world. And moreover see the Profiles of most renounced Cave Researchers of the world.
WildlifeCampus is an international online Virtual Campus offering a wide variety of Wildlife, Wildlife-related, Natural Science and Ecotourism Courses covering the spectacular diversity of life found on our planet and specifically on African savannas. The baobab is considered by many to be the quintessential African tree. For many indigenous tribes it is the embodiment of wisdom, reverence, teaching, respect, leadership, longevity, health and life. It is also shrouded in myth, legend, superstition and magic. The San associate it with the origins of creation, others believe it presides over the animals who go to it to settle disputes. Some use it to cure ills, ward off evil spirits and to gain protection from crocodiles. Baobabs are the oldest of all African creatures with several individuals having been recorded as being in excess of 2,000 years old. WildlifeCampus has embraced a legend that reveres the baobab as the 'Keeper of Knowledge', and therefore believe it to be a fitting emblem. It is our strongest hope that you too will come to associate this attribute with the baobab - and with WildlifeCampus.
